Alright, guys — after a long wait, we finally have our hands on the HP Omni Book 5, and trust me, there’s so much about this laptop that feels borderline revolutionary. Yes, I know… calling a laptop “revolutionary” is a bold move — but hear me out.
This is powered by Snapdragon’s latest X series chipset — we’ve seen the X Lite, X Plus before, but the new Snapdragon X unveiled at CES 2025 changes the game, especially in the budget Windows laptop segment.
When I compare it to Intel and AMD laptops in the same price range, the OmniBook 5 can do things you wouldn’t even imagine with those chipsets. And I’m going to break down exactly what those things are.
Like I always say, friends — whether you’re buying a laptop today, in 6 months, or even next year — you need to watch this video till the end. Let’s get started.
Unboxing
Oh wow… this is light! Inside the box, you get the laptop itself, some important documentation — make sure you read it — and a compact 65W charger. The cool part? You can even use your regular mobile charger, but the included adapter is fast and efficient.
The HP OmniBook 5 is incredibly thin and weighs just 1.3 kg (1300g), making it super portable. Perfect for travel or everyday use.
And hey, if you’re new here, don’t forget to subscribe — we cover not just smartphones but all kinds of tech gadgets, bringing you complete and honest reviews.
Design

Let’s open HP Omni book 5. First of all, friends, the touchpad is big. Friends, look at this display. This is an OLED display. OLED displays are available, but those are laptops that cost $1712 -$2283. This one is under 70%. Its price is, first of all, like I said, the size of the touchpad is quite big. Even the keys and their sizing are good. The key travel distance is good. Overall, I say, the keyboard and touch pad are both perfect.

Display

Regarding the display of the Omni Book 5, it features a 14-inch OLED screen. It has 300 nits of brightness. You know, blacks look pitch black. It is a little reflective, but a beautiful display for sure. And yes, it is a 2K display, not FG. Its resolution is 2K. Look at the colours. That means absolutely beautiful colours are visible.

So the screen-to-body ratio is above 90% because the side bezels are very thin, friends. Even on this, you also get a webcam, which is a full HD webcam with a privacy shutter. So there is a physical privacy shutter. So when you are not making a video call, etc., you can keep it closed for safe privacy. And this is its 16:10 aspect ratio. So you know a bi,g nice display.

Ports and Buttons
I have not noticed the overall build quality. I have noticed the ports and buttons. Let’s talk about that. If you look at the bottom side, you will find complete air vents. One thing is that no matter how much we use it.

It has got fancy, but it started working only after doing something very intensive once or twice. So I am not only efficient. They are much better in terms of thermals as well. So, talking about the materials, recycled aluminium has been used in the front and at the bottom, I think it is plastic itself. But it looks metal.

On the front side, you get speaker grills. Rather than on the side. Many times, laptops have them on the side. Here it is in the front. Let’s look at the ports. There are two USB Type-C ports on the left-hand side. You get 10 Gbps data through port in this port.

So that DP 1.4A comes inside it. So that is good. You can have an external display. On the right-hand side, there is this Type A port. And then you have a 3.5mm jack. Yes, there is nothing else. So it is sparse. Two USB Type-C and one USB Type-A. That’s about it. No SD card slot, etc.

Performance
Let’s talk about HP Omni Book 5 performance. Especially, let’s talk about efficiency, friends. HP claims that you will get 34 hours of battery life. 34 hours of battery life. This is unheard of. As per our usage, it will last for 20 to 24 hours, even if you are doing anything. This means that you can use this laptop for 2-1/2 days after charging it once. And one more thing, we also tested its standby time. Friends, we kept it on overnight.

Even on standby, after 10-12 hours, the battery got drained only by 4% to 5%. This means that the efficiency is amazing. And there is a reason, friends, it comes with a Snapdragon X processor. Like I said, it is ARM-based. It is a 4nm processor. If you look at Intel MDK, etc., they are generally 7nm or 8nm.

This is 4nm, so it is extremely power-efficient as well. And because of the ARM architecture, it has a dedicated NPU for AI. Its NPU alone gives 45 TOPS. Trillion operations per second. So it is extremely powerful, especially as it will do great AI tasks.
So they are not going to go above that. You can do Photoshop, even Premiere Pro, video editing, casual video editing, etc., on it. And you can even run Da-vinci. So you have to do audio mixing, etc.
You can do all that, be it DJ or something. All that software will run properly without any issues. We have also run different benchmarks for performance. I am showing them on the screen. Check them out.
If I look at $700-$800 laptops, I would say that their performance is much better than the performance you get on other Intel and AMD laptops. So, look at Snapdragon X series laptops. In terms of both efficiency and performance. And one thing is very interesting in gaming laptops: if you look at all laptops, they give peak performance when it is plugged in.

In this, whether it is plugged in or not, you will always get peak performance. Friends, I have tested the read and write speeds, and I am giving one of the fastest out there. I have not even questioned it in laptops. 16 GB RAM comes with LPDDR 5X, and whichever variant you take, 512GB or 1 Terabyte accordingly. Even the storage comes with a J4 SSD. Again, that is the fastest and latest. So read write speeds, software open close, etc., have to be done.

Software
Let’s talk about the software. There are two things here: one is Windows 11 Home. No problems there, but you also get MS Office 2024, which costs $1016. If you buy this laptop from HP’s website, you will get a backpack for $33, and then the software MS Office will also be free of cost.

So you are saving about $11, think because Snapdragon X has AI features, NPU comes, so let’s talk about AI features and there is a list, one is the recall feature, it’s like your memory, your brain sometimes forgets but your laptop is never going to forget anything, whatever you are doing, whatever activity you might have done 10 days ago, that gets locked in recall and you will be able to recall it.

yes, what was I doing? Which website did I visit? I can’t remember, go to recall, you will be able to know everything, live captioning comes, so right now you are watching videos in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, etc. You will get live captions in English.

Static MS Paint is no more, where you used to do it earlier. Now AI has come inside it. So you can give text, and you can create images and pictures. If you say paint, it says co-creator. Yes, So the co-creator is also with you.

And just like you have eraser, background eraser, etc. in your smartphones, you can remove the background in the photo. If you want to enhance the photo, you can do that too. Exactly how you get it in the gallery app of smartphones or the photo editing app, the same way you get it in laptops. That’s good.
And the most important thing is that many times when you are doing all these things on the smartphone, it goes to the online server, and then you get the result. No, here the device is on, and even if you are not connected to the internet, whatever you do on the laptop will happen. Thanks to that NPU.
Multimedia

Multimedia: That OLED display, you are going to enjoy the colours that are visible. And even the audio is at the bottom, but because it is in front, you get the feel of front-firing speakers. So the quality is good. The volume is good, and the display is a 2K resolution Oled display. I know you will get the same feel as you see on a good iPad or tablet. Nice Multimedia Thumbs up. Yes. You can watch HDR content on Netflix, Prime Video, etc. And on streaming apps, it is not normal, but HDR is supported.
Connectivity

Let’s see what other features are HP Omni Book 5 has? In connectivity, friends, Wi-Fi 6E comes, which uses Qualcomm’s 6900 modem. Bluetooth is 5.3. So connectivity and everything are good.

Talking about sensors, there is no fingerprint, but there is an IR blaster, so there is support for Windows Hello. There is a Web-Cam; there is also a physical shutter button for privacy. And dual mics come, so you can also use the AI noise cancellation feature. And a very interesting thing is the support for fast charging.

That means charge for 30 minutes. You can use the battery all day. You can use the laptop all day. Talking about this becomes a little different in the case of laptops. It is understandable in smartphones, but charging for half an hour and the whole day, you can use the entire laptop. So friends, this is HP Omni Book 5.
Pricing
Vardict
Earlier, Snapdragon chipset-based laptops were available, but again, they were $1712-$2280 more expensive. According to me, Snapdragon X can revolutionise the budget series laptops. And if you see in the future, many people are going to prefer this. AI features are available. You get tremendous battery efficiency. Performance is also much better. Meaning, you can do everything on a laptop for 60-70,000. What else do you need? By the way, before ending this video, let me also tell you that I have experienced all these things. These are my feelings about HP Omni book 5.
