On top of that, it comes with the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, the same processor family seen in premium phones like the Vivo X300 lineup. The base model launched in China for around 3000 Yuan, which converts to roughly $415 USD. Considering the hardware you get, the pricing is surprisingly competitive.

One thing worth noting is that Redmi ships a hard plastic case instead of a silicone one, probably because the cooling fan needs airflow from the rear vent area.

Design & Build Quality

The Redmi K90 Max definitely looks like a gaming phone without going overboard.

The cooling grille under the camera module gives the phone a unique identity. It honestly looks cleaner than many gaming phones currently on the market.

At 227g, the phone is definitely heavy. If you are used to lighter devices, you’ll notice the weight immediately. However, gamers who already use larger phones like gaming-focused Android devices or Pro Max iPhones probably won’t mind it much.

Cooling Fan Actually Works

The biggest highlight of the Redmi K90 Max is the built-in cooling fan. Unlike some gaming phones, where the fan can be loud and distracting, Redmi’s implementation is surprisingly quiet. You can barely hear it during gaming sessions.

The fan keeps thermals under control extremely well. Even during benchmark tests and extended PUBG gameplay, the phone stayed noticeably cooler than most flagship devices.

This solves one of the biggest complaints people usually have with Media-Tek flagship chips, overheating during heavy gaming.

For gaming and media consumption, this display looks fantastic. The high refresh rate makes animations and game-play feel incredibly smooth. PUBG, scrolling, multitasking, and UI transitions all feel very fluid.

However, there is one compromise.

Redmi K90 Max uses an LTPS panel instead of LTPO. That means adaptive refresh rate efficiency is not as advanced as some premium flagship competitors. This is clearly one area where Redmi cut costs. Still, for most users, especially gamers, the display experience remains excellent.

Performance is where the Redmi K90 Max becomes seriously impressive.

Gaming performance is excellent overall.

I was hoping Redmi K90 Max would unlock 120FPS support, but currently, the phone maxes out at 90FPS.

Even then, game-play felt smooth and responsive. Touch response is fast, frame pacing is stable, and the large display makes aiming easier during close-range fights.

The cooling fan genuinely helps maintain consistent performance during longer sessions.

If your main priority is gaming performance instead of camera quality, this phone absolutely delivers.

Speakers & Audio Quality

The stereo speakers tuned by Bose are surprisingly powerful.

Audio output is:

• Clear
• Rich in bass
• Great for gaming and movies

Dolby Atmos support also improves the overall experience while watching content or playing games.

For a gaming-focused phone in this price category, the speaker quality is genuinely impressive.

Camera Performance

The cameras are decent, but definitely not the main focus of this device.

Photos are acceptable in daylight, but detail levels are not flagship-grade. Colors sometimes appear slightly flat and dynamic range can feel average compared to premium camera phones.

However, the selfie camera lacks 4K recording, which feels disappointing at this price. Zoom performance is usable up to around 5X, while higher zoom levels lose detail quickly. Overall, the cameras are fine for casual use, but this is clearly a performance-first smartphone.

Battery Life

Battery life is another huge strength.

The Redmi K90 Max packs a gigantic 8550mAh battery with:

There are rumors this device could launch globally under the Poco branding sometime around June or July, although nothing is officially confirmed yet.
